I’ve always had a soft spot for turntablism. Scratching, cutting, juggling. Heck, I love it. Some may say even obsessed with it.
The epitome of turntablism for me is stuff like this. Music created entirely out of recorded sound samples, manipulated with scratch techniques and composed into something that makes me, well, feel good.
C2C ft. Hocus Pocus – Feel Good
From the post-golden-age of turntablism came a wave of ‘scratch music’ in the early to mid 2000s, taking what the early turntablist crews (like Invisibl Skratch Piklz, X-ecutioners) had done and made it more refined, restrained, something resembling more traditional song structures, and possibly more accessible to the masses.
This tune was released circa 2005 by some extremely talented French dudes. Blown your mind yet?
